All-New Music Across America Drone & Light Show

After years of enjoying the Stone Mountain Park Laser Show Spectacular, the new Music Across America Drone & Light Show will debut Memorial Day weekend on the face of Stone Mountain.

The new show will be bigger and better than ever — but will still keep the fun and excitement Georgians know and love.

The new light show will feature more lighting, larger video projections, as well as more laser beams. State-of-the-art projectors and 3D mapping techniques help make the new show better than ever.

The new Light Show features banks of new high-resolution 4k video projectors, which will enhance the experience with lighting moving overhead, side to side, and on the ground. The Light Show will also feature more fireworks and flame effects, as well as new musical tracks. An upgraded sound system will provide a full immersive surround sound effect.

The Drone Show will feature 250 color-changing drones synchronized to music. How cool is that?!

Music Across America Drone & Light Show Tips & Tricks

When Can You See The Drone & Light Show?

The new Music Across America Drone & Light Show will debut at Stone Mountain Park on Memorial Day weekend in 2023. You’ll be able to catch the show throughout the summer, with special versions of the show being shown on certain special event dates as well.

The official dates for 2023 are: May 26-July 26; August 5, 12, 19, and 26; September 2, 3, 4, and 9th. Check this calendar for the latest.

The Summer Light Show is approximately 45 minutes in length. The special event Light Shows, including Latino Family Festival, Soul Fest, Pumpkin Festival, Stone Mountain Christmas, and Lunar New Year are approximately 20 minutes in length.

Drone & Light Show Tickets

Drone & Light Show tickets will work much the same way as the Stone Mountain Lasershow tickets did. The Light Show is included with an Attractions Ticket or a Mountain Membership. It can also be purchased as a stand-alone ticket.

If you’re looking for stand-alone tickets, General Admission to the Lawn seating is $5/person. Another option is Light Show Snack Terrace Seating, which includes access to a reserved seat on a terrace to view the Light Show, one Coca-Cola beverage, and unlimited popcorn. Tickets for the Light Show Snack Terrace Seating are $15/person.

If you have a Mountain Membership, but want to upgrade to the reserved Snack Terrace Seating, it’s $13/person. If you’re a Mountain Member, but just want to enjoy the included General Admission ticket — you no longer have to make a reservation in 2023. Just visit a ticket window to obtain a wristband for entrance.

For all tickets, advance reservations are encouraged to ensure your entry into the Light Show. Walk-up tickets will only be sold based on availability. The laser show operates rain or shine, and the tickets are non-refundable. However, you can call to change the date of your tickets if your plans change.

Note: The July 4th holiday is THE busiest day of the year at Stone Mountain Park — and the light show and special July 4th fireworks are the main draw! They also feature their July 4th light show and fireworks on July 2 and 3 to try to spread out the crowds, but July 4th is still the most popular. If you plan on attending that day, make sure to get your light show tickets in advance.

You will also need a parking pass to enter Stone Mountain Park. Parking passes are $20 a day, or $40 for an annual pass.

Bring a Picnic

The most popular thing to do before the Classic Lasershow Spectacular has always been to enjoy a picnic on the Memorial Lawn. That still stands as a great idea for the new Light Show! Bring your blanket, food, snacks and drinks and make a day of it.

You can bring your own food and drinks into the park to enjoy — which is a great way to save money.

Note that glass containers, grills, and alcohol is not allowed on the Memorial Lawn.

Consider Staying at Stone Mountain Park Overnight

The Light Show doesn’t start until it gets dark, and sometimes that’s as late as 9:30pm — which can be a little late for the little ones in your group. A great solution would be to stay at one of the great overnight options at Stone Mountain Park.

Atlanta Evergreen Lakeside Resort is a great place to stay, with heated indoor and outdoor pools year-round. The Inn at Stone Mountain Park is another great choice that features a family-friendly pool and great guest rooms.

If you really want to be immersed in nature, consider a stay at the Stone Mountain Park campground. Here you’ll find tent and RV campsites, as well as yurts, safari tents, and RV rentals.
